Educating Homeowners

We want you to make an educated decision when it comes time to build your new home.  Please contact us for a personal review of the Custom Design/Build Experience and we’ll show you some of the tools and processes your Builder should have in place to properly manage a home and run a small business.  We’ll also give you a look at our US Copyrighted Homeowner Manual that can guide you through the construction process and all the decisions you will make on your custom home (this tool is available to all our Homeowners – if you are building out of our area, we will be happy to provide you a copy as well).

Part I: What is a Builder?
From colonial times until a century or so ago, most people built their own homes.  Then ‘Builders’ gradually came into existence, people would hire one man/company who was mason, carpenter, electrician and roofer to build their home.  Following World War II, specialists arrived and the General Contractor was born – the home was subcontracted to specific trades because this delivered more cost efficiency and better quality.  Conclusion: Today’s Builder is really a manager, a leader charged with coordinating hundreds of moving parts and ensuring quality and value.

Part II: What is that Builder’s Value?
The Builder’s real value is his ability to create and maintain a PROCESS.  At the end of the day, most people get a decent product when they build.  The true measure of success is to answer this question: ‘Was it a good experience, or a painful disorganized mess?’

Part III: What to look for in your Builder.
You don’t want a Builder struggling to run a business.  You want an organized and professional businessman who happens to build great Homes.
