Construction is a family tradition.  John Schoen, a  Bavarian immigrant, built streets and sewers in northwest Ohio.

Grandfather, ‘Papa’ Dick Schoen, ran his father’s paving & sewer contracting company, Schoen Paving along with his brothers until 1985.  Projects included the Ohio Turnpike and the downtown Toledo Riverfront ‘Portside’.

Father, Bill Schoen, founded Bridgewater Construction in1979 with a focus on high-end custom homes.  Under Bill’s leadership, Bridgewater received numerous industry awards, including being named the Northwest Ohio HBA ‘Builder of the Year’.  Bill retired in 2001, but is still informally active with the company.

That same year, son Nate Schoen (resume) took the company reigns after serving the country as a Marine Corps officer.  In 2004 Bill and Nate obtained a US Copyright for a management template they designed to help other Builders run their businesses in an efficient, systematic manner and to help Homeowners stay organized and properly engaged above the chaos all too common in the construction industry.  In the fall of 2009, he relocated his family and the business to Beaufort, South Carolina.

Although now Bridgewater Consulting also serves as an international consulting & training firm for high end residential Homebuilders, Nate continues to design and build for discriminating Homeowners looking for a unique personal relationship and high attention to detail.

Nate has been recognized and honored by Professional Builder magazine as a ‘Top 40 Under 40′ in the Construction Industry in 2011.

Nate has also been published in numerous professional magazines:

Over the years, Bridgewater Construction has completed over 300 custom designed homes.  Nationally, projects have been recognized in:

  • Feature Story, Custom Builder magazine, September 1997
  • “National Builder of the Month,” Custom Builder magazine, November 1989
  • Cover Story, Professional Builder magazine, June 1987

Nate is married to Sarah (Clemson ’00).
They have two boys, Will & Hall (updated family photo coming soon!).
